This is the second half of the Dreaming of Love pair. If the first piece is the arrival at the river, this one is the staying — the moment after you’ve put down whatever you were carrying and the water has finally started to hear you.
I stitched into this one differently. The threads sit a little denser here, a little more insistent, the way a real conversation gets when it has been going for a while. The palette is close to its sister piece but not the same; that felt important. Love, in my experience, is rarely symmetrical.
For collectors of Caribbean art who are building a wall around a story rather than a single moment, the two Dreaming of Love pieces speak to each other. Hang them together and the river runs through both.
This piece is part of Embroidered x Nature, my current collection of hand- stitched botanical portraits.
