This piece was made in a season when a lot of us were rethinking what we owe each other — and what the land is owed too. It’s a still life, but it isn’t still. Everything in it is leaning slightly toward everything else.

I stitched the connective threads on purpose to be visible. In real life we don’t usually see the lines between us and the plants and the water and the people we’ve never met but who share our air. In this piece, for a moment, you can.
